A Hard Day's Night

Framed Caricatures

I sent these two caricatures to the frame shop and today they are neatly framed and ready to be put on the kids' walls. They each costs RM22 to frame and I think it's a good bargain.

New Umbrellas

It has been raining heavily for the past few days and Maisarah kept asking me to buy her a new umbrella. So we went to MyMydin supermarket and bought a Hello Kitty umbrella for her and a Malaysia umbrella for Ilyas. When we get home, Umi is asking, 'Where is my umbrella then?' Opps, need to get back to MyMydin store I guess.

Brutal boy playing brutal computer games

While waiting to go to school, Ilyas is playing shoot 'em games online in Tok Wan's house. He is definitely look serious and his newly acquired scar just make him in a way, more menacing. But it's all in the appearance, thankfully.

The peril of being handsome

I just came back from school after sending Ilyas to his class when suddenly Jo received a call from his teacher. Apparently Ilyas fell and hurt his forehead. So we rushed back to the school and found him in teachers' room. The wound looks big but it's only skin deep. Ilyas wanted to go home so we told his teacher that he's taking a leave. When everybody is inside the car, we asked him what really happened. At first he told us that he was pushed by someone else, but he is not so sure anymore when we asked him for more details. Turned out that he and his friend were running away from a girl who is trying to catch them. He lost control and fell. Next time he should just let the girl get him.

Learning to Read

Lunch at The Westin Hotel

Tok is treating us for lunch at The Westin Hotel and I took the opportunity to try out strange looking foods from the buffet section. Ilyas had a pasta with carbonara sauce and Maisarah enjoyed her marshmallow dipped in chocolate. I can see rojak mamak on one of Jo's plates. There are so many variety of foods that we simply don't know what to choose. There is also a group of singers entertaining us while we were eating. Thank you Tok for the treat!

I Love F1

Julie was working at the Pavilion promoting F1 to the public so we decided to pay her a visit. By the time we arrived they have finished doing their programme. So we took some pictures and left for dinner.

Pavilion

This is our first visit ever to the Pavilion, one of the newest shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur. It's quite huge and full of various branded shops. Ilyas and Maisarah as usual will be looking for toys shop and luckily for their parents they couldn't find any.

Train Ride

Maisarah has been asking us when she can get on the train ride like Umi who is doing it every workday. So today we decided to go visit Tok by taking Komuter and Rapid KL train rides. First, we will take a Komuter train from UKM station towards KL Sentral. Then we are going to change train to Rapid KL train and will stop at Ampang Park station. Maisarah is really excited but we were surprised to see that the train is packed with people throughout the journey. By the time for us to go home, everybody is getting tired and the inside of the train is getting hotter (I'm not sure whether the air conditioner is broken or there is simply no such thing inside the train) and Ilyas is getting cranky. I hope Maisarah is happy with this train ride and will not ask for another one in the near future!

LBJB Fifth League Match

Today is the first time the Rhinos are without their first coach and I have to be in charge for the first time. Of all the opponents in the league we had to face Tigers. Although we drew 1-1 during our first league match against them, we were beaten 1-6 during the practice round. And guess what, this time we were again trashed by them 1-6. Hisham scored the solitary goal and when he missed a penalty, we knew that luck is not on our side. Afterwards Panthers beaten Beavers with a scoreline of 4-0. That's mean Tigers is finally on top of the league with 9 points, Rhinos second with 8 points and Panthers getting nearer with 6 points. Beavers remain rooted at the bottom with 2 points. Next week we will be meeting Beavers and it's a good time to move further away from Panthers as they will be facing Tigers. Let's hope Coach Hassan will be available this time.

29th Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010

Today we decided to visit the book fair held at the Putra World Trade Centre. There are so many stalls selling books and I think there must be thousands of visitors looking for cheap bargains on their favourite reading. We bought some books for Ilyas and Maisarah and when we arrived at the Creative Enterprise stall (the one who produce the infamous Gila-Gila magazine) we took the opportunity of making caricatures of their face. Both are happy with the results and wanted us to frame the pictures.

Sakoteng hanjuang

I went to one of the offices in my faculty and came across this strange looking packet over the counter. The staff there let me take it home. It came from Indonesia and this is what I figure is the ingredients:

"Komposisi: Gula palem, gula putih, krim, jahe, Sokade, Kelapa, kismis, jeruk, rempah-rempah"

And it's instructions are like this:

"Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang terbaik, campurkan 1 bungkus SAKOTENG HANJUANG dengan 150 cc. (1 cangkir) air mendidih. Aduk hingga rata, diamkan sejenak, dan siap disajikan."

I did exactly what it says on the packet and guess what, it's actually a hybrid of ginger tea and leng chee kang! And it tastes delicious! Mental note: Must keep visiting that office again.

Red Wok Restaurant

Lalan called around 8pm to inform us that he is nearby our house. Apparently he is in the Red Wok restaurant, a place where we never knew it existed before. It is only about 500 metres from our house and it's quite huge. Their specialties are regular steamboat and sizzling steamboat. So we decided to have dinner there. The food was nice and we ate until we are really full (the fact that they will charge any excess food might explain that). Just perfect to treat this dinner as a celebration of our 8th year wedding anniversary.

Test Results - Part 3

Today Ilyas received his final test results and it's English. To our surprise he didn't get 100 marks. Instead he got 96. Upon close examination we discovered that he didn't answer one of the question which I think is just a careless mistake. The second question he got wrong is a bit confusing. I thought Sheila is the Indian girl on the left, and Ilyas might have thought so. The key to answer that question is by looking at which person the girl in the centre is speaking to!
