Conducting Waste Management Course in Pangkalan TLDM, Lumut

This is my third time in Lumut conducting a course for the TLDM officers. The reception was great, the food were delicious and this time during the evening I managed to join in the karaoke and bowling session with some of the officers. I even got invited to visit one of the ships, Tunas Samudera which is actually a big yacht. I found out later when I was inside the crew cabin that the ship has actually participated in the round of the world race back in 2007. During night time I was treated to a nasi kerabu dinner by one of the ex-Navy who hails from Kelantan and is an old friend of Rahim, my colleague in UPM.

Bank Rakyat Football Tournament 2010

Today LBJB team participated in the Bank Rakyat Football tournament and they will be representing Bangi branch. To enter into this tournament they need to have a Kelab Nuri bank account with Bank Rakyat. Ilyas' team are participating in the Under 8 category and five teams are competing under that category. Unfortunately Kelana Jaya team pulled out at the last minute. 

In the first match Bangi team managed to beat Shah Alam team with the score of 3-2. After that Bangi easily won their next two matches by beating Sri Iskandar/Jelapang 6-0 and Sg. Buluh 4-0. In the final Bangi faced Shah Alam and it was an intense match. The first half ended 0-0. Towards the end of the second half, our top striker Haziq finally managed to beat Shah Alam goalkeeper. When the final whistle was blown, the parents immediately took to the field and celebrated with the players. 

For being the champions, the team received RM500 (to be deposited equally into each player's Kelab Nuri bank account) and each player receives a medal and gifts from Bank Rakyat and Figos. Haziq received another RM50 for becoming top scorer in the tournament with 10 goals. Congratulations to Ilyas for winning his first football tournament, something that his father has never done before.

Liga Bolasepak Junior Bangi (LBJB) members (which include kids and their parents) were invited to be a part of the FourFourTwo show, an Astro football programme hosted in channel 817. Naturally everyone is very excited because this will be their first experience to be on TV. When they were finally ushered into the studio, the room went silent because no one dared to speak or even do anything. Luckily the show hostess, Jay Menon was there to greet us and make us very comfortable. Later on, her partner Jason Dasey joined us together with the former Australian striker, Abbas Saad. 

Surprisingly the recording was done quite quickly and then it's time to take pictures with the hosts. And then it's time to go home and wait for the show to come up on air at 9pm on the same day. When Ilyas shouted 'LBJB!' on the TV, everyone was smiling at him. He is such an entertainer!

Piala ANSARA - ANSARA Taiping 3 ANSARA Gerik 0

Today we are facing ANSARA Gerik in a knock out Piala ANSARA match. I'm not sure really what stage we are playing. It could be a quarter final match or we might be playing to be qualified for the quarter final. The competition details are not readily available but we don't mind much as long as we are winning. However, this time it could not be that easy because for some reasons or other, some of our regular players could not make it for today match. By the time the match is about to start, there were only eleven of us so I had to fill in as the goalkeeper. 

The match started brightly for us when Jose made a dashing round from the right before finishing it off with a thunderous shot right to the far left of the goal post. I had few scary chances in the first half but still managed to keep the clean sheet. The second half started with us constantly been pushed back as the opponent tried to get an equaliser. They did managed to score a goal but was overruled by the referee due to an infringement. 

And then I collided with their striker.

The pain was bearable but I asked to be substituted. Only when I was off the pitch then I started to feel the pain on both my legs. But all was forgotten when Jose struck another goal from the same side and Ayie added another through a penalty after Fazli was brought down inside the penalty area. 

This is the second time I managed to keep a clean sheet in this season and the first time it was done during a proper match. I'm just wondering if the the pain is worth the trouble and it might be when we heard that we will be facing High School Kajang Alumni next week in the semi final (or could it be a quarter final?).

Hitachi Aircond Futsal Tournament

This is the first time Ilyas is playing in a futsal tournament. Funny thing is, he never plays a futsal game before in his life. That would be no problem though as his LBJB team blazed through the group matches for Under 8 category. They won against Haneco FC 5-0, beaten LBJB B 3-0, trashed Cili Padi FC 8-1 and drew with HAPM Little Warrior 0-0. In the final they faced HAPM Little Warrior again but luck was not on their side as they lose 1-2. The other LBJB teams managed to get into the final as well for Under 10 and Under 12 categories but only our Under 10 team managed to become the champion.

Ilyas played as the defender but he still managed to get an assist. Next week he will be playing in another tournament at Putrajaya but that will be held in an open stadium. Hopefully his team will be the champion this time.
