Liga Alumni 2011 Division One Fourth League Match: BAT 0 SMACH 4

After the last match victory against AlumTek, we are facing our toughest opponent yet in the league, SMACH. We held against their penetrating attacks quite well in the first half but our opponent took advantage of confusions over a free kick and scored their first goal. It was a blow to our players' morale and when the second half started we were unable to continue with our earlier momentum and SMACH started to pile pressures upon us by scoring one goal after another. It was a match to forget but we knew that by the end of the season, team's position will be decided by the head to head results and that is what we are going to focus right now, by beating our lower ranked opponents such as SJAA and STAROBA when we meet them later.

Ice Skating at the Sunway Pyramid

Maisarah has been asking us to bring her to the ice skating rink for many weeks and today we are able to fulfill her wish. Jo decided to be our official photographer for this momentous occasion; the first time the kids experience ice skating. Although she kept clinging to the side board, Maisarah never got tired and insisting that we continue skating even when I was sweating heavily and started to hurt my feet. On the other hand, Ilyas was skating by himself as if he had known skating all his life. Even when Maisarah and I took our needed rest, Ilyas continued with his skating. When we finished our session, Maisarah asked if we could buy her own skating shoes. Maybe some day, dear.

The Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival was held every year at the Putrajaya Waterfront and this year we decided to go there and enjoy the spectacle of floats parade as well as the fireworks. There is a restaurant near the Millennium Tower and while waiting for the dinner to come, we took pictures of the floats and enjoy the fireworks. Unfortunately, Maisarah was too sleepy to wait for the fireworks which started promptly at 10 o'clock.

Liga Alumni 2011 Division One Third League Match: BAT 3 AlumTek 2

After two straight losses, we really need a win to boost the moral of the players as well as keeping our hope alive of remaining in the first division. We started brightly when Mujahid scored the first goal but AlumTek responded almost swiftly with their equaliser. However, we managed to lead one more time through a briliant goal by Wan when he coolly sidestepped the goalkeeper to score his first competitive goal for BAT.

In the second half, AlumTek substituted their goalkeeper but even that won't stop Mujahid from scoring an audacious goal from a long range to double our lead. The opponent did eventually got another goal through their speedy winger but we are not going to be denied our first win in the league. In the end, we emerged victorious but it was not an easy one as three of our players had to be substituted during the match because of multiple kind of injuries.

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship - Oulton Park

Today is Awa's birthday and his friend Faizul decided to bring him to watch the BTCC race at the Oulton Park. I have nothing to do that day so I tagged along. The weather is not particularly good and it has been lightly raining since morning, a stark contrast to the sunny weather the day before. The BTCC race started in the noon and comprises of three separate races with different type of races in between. What struck me most is that the spectators area are quite close to the track to the extent that we can smell the rubbers. The whole area looks like a giant picnic sport where everybody bringing along their grandparents and the kids. I even saw a couple bringing a baby to watch the race. We watched the first two races and was thoroughly enjoyed it especially the second one when both leading Honda cars collided with one another at the final corner of the last lap of the race. Then it's getting real cold and we decided to drive back to Cheshire Oaks for some last minute shopping. I managed to buy a Mulberry wallet for Jo at a discounted price. Hope she will like it.

A badminton day in Liverpool

John and Sham invited me to play badminton today at 10 o'clock in the morning and even though I'm currently in Manchester, I decided to drive all the way to Liverpool to join them. I quite enjoyed the session with them last Saturday and really looking forward for this one. There were seven of us and we had a session for two hours. Afterwards John and Sham took me to this Yemeni restaurant for lunch. I ordered a meal named Salta and it tastes very nice despite its look. I have no idea what exactly the ingredients for Salta but it does bring out the best of Yemeni dish.

Of all many halal restaurants in Rusholme, Awa took me to this Japanese restaurant to try out the aromatic crispy duck starter dish. I was a bit apprehensive at first but the duck tastes nice especially when it wrapped with a thin rice paper. For the main meal I ordered a chow mein noodles and it is simply delicious.

Azrul and Nita joined us for the lunch and afterwards we went to the university campus to stop by at Rizal's house. He was busy packing and there were many Malaysians in his house including Tun and Saidatul. After that it's time to go back to Liverpool to prepare for my viva.

This restaurant is one of the latest addition of eating place in Bandar Baru Bangi and we simply had to give it a try. The concept is based on the Western style fast food franchise restaurant. What makes them different than the established ones are in term of the variety of foods on offer. The MFC is like a combination of KFC and Pizza Hut, plus a few meals of kebabs and rice. The fried chicken itself are quite small in proportion to KFC's. However, since the price is slightly cheaper than KFC you would expect this kind of discount on size.

Klang Valley League Classification Match, ILSAS B - BAT 5 - 1 Starjets

Last weekend the match was abandoned because the referees forgot to come. We ended up playing a friendly match with our opponents, Starjets and still won 2-1. However, today is the real thing and with most of our first eleven players came for this match, we should do even better. And it was proven when Mujahid scored a brace in the first half with assists from Eby and Shidi. Starjets tried to fight back with a goal in the second half but we restored our two goals lead when Kerambit scored a beautiful goal through a passing by Ayie. He added another one with an assist by Jose and then reciprocated the help by assisting Jose's goal.

I think this is one of our best performance so far in the Klang Valley league. Next weekend we will be facing Shah Alam FC for the 5th and 6th placing. Hopefully we will maintain this winning momentum.

LBJB 2011 League Match Nine: Eagles 2-0 Hawks

With Eagles leading only by one point, this last league match is the most important match of them all. Eagles must win to secure the championship because Harriers have no problem in beating Falcons for their last league match. Hawks also needed a win to ensure they do not finish bottom of the league. So when the match started, both teams were quite nervous but it did not take long for Eagles to take a lead. In the second quarter, Afiq finally managed to put his name on the score sheet through a precise shot to the top left of the goal. An own goal by one of the Hawks players provided a great relief to the Eagles. Hisham of Hawks nearly halved the advantage in the fourth quarter but his shot went wide. In the end, Eagles are crowned champions of the Junior Division of the LBJB with Harriers in the second place, Hawks in the third and Falcons at the bottom. As predicted, Harriers beaten Falcons by the same scoreline in following match after that.

Next weekend all teams will be participating in the One Day Tournament and it will really makes my day if Eagles can do the Doubles.

Friendly Match: LBJB Coaches & Parents 2-5 Bandar Seri Putra Veterans

This is the first time LBJB coaches and parents put together a football team to play in a friendly match with a veteran team from Bandar Seri Putra. The kids now have the opportunity to see their coaches to play football and to really find out if what they have learned so far are really practiced by their coaches. I play attacking role in the first half and we managed to get a lead through a goal by Emeel, a Major coach for Barracudas team. In the second half we changed nine of our players but we still maintained the lead although the score line is now 2-1. I got into the field again in the third half but most of us were running out of steam and we let in four successive goals without really putting up a fight.

It was a good friendly match and I asked for this kind of match to be held more often.

LBJB 2011 League Match Eight: Eagles 1-1 Harriers

Eagles lead has been cut down to one point and today they are facing their most toughest opponent, a second placed Harriers. Anything less than a draw will hand the title of league champions to Harriers and for the first time ever I had to change the team tactic. Eagles started the match with a very defensive mindset. We practically have three defenders sitting deep in our own half because we knew Harriers have two speedy attackers. However, in the third quarter something spectacular happened. From out of nothing Ilyas let loose a thunderous volley from his own half straight into the goal of Harriers. Firdaus managed to capture that moment in the video and Ilyas will definitely have something to watch over and over again for the next few years. Harriers responded by doubling their attack and Ilyas again did something that he never had done in the fourth quarter, which is letting in a goal. The match ended 1-1 and frankly I am quite happy with the result. In other match Hawks managed to beat Falcons 1-0.

LBJB 2011 League Match Six: Eagles 0-0 Hawks

Eagles are hoping to bounce back from their last weekend defeat to Harriers by repeating their victory over Hawks in the first round. However, Hawks have another idea. They have already beaten Harriers and drew with Falcons in the last two matches and they are not going to give in easily to Eagles. Without Hadif who scored two goals against Harriers, Eagles were finding it hard to put in the ball into the goal. There were many chances in every quarter but nothing to be celebrated about. In the last quarter Eagles went out for an all out attack. I thought Naufal did scored a winning goal, and most of the players thought the same but apparently the ball hit the post and bounced out. In the end Hawks continued their fine form by remaining unbeaten in the second round. Meanwhile Harriers demolished Falcons 6-0 and closed the gap with Eagles to only 3 points. Third round is going to be very interesting indeed.

Klang Valley Mini League 2011 Fourth Match: BAT 1 - 3 SS7 FC

Our opponent today hail from Kelana Jaya and given that they managed to beat Shah Alam FC a few weeks ago, it is going to be an uphill battle for us. Things do not look bright for us when they took a lead in the first half. However a brilliant pass from Sahlan found Shaz's foot at the edge of the penalty box and he let in a thunderous shot right into the bottom right corner of the goal. The first half ended 1-1 and we started to think that there is a slight chance of us winning this match.

That hope was brutally squashed in the second half when SS7 FC put in two more goals through some slick passings right in the middle. We did not have a high expectation from this match so the best thing to do is to concentrate on our last league match next Saturday which will decides whether we are qualified to enter the knock out stage or not.

Tonight Lalan suggested that we should have dinner at this new restaurant situated along the road to Sungai Merab. This restaurant has just started operating about a month ago and Lalan was commisioned to design some of its interior decoration such as its wallpaper and the cashier counter. We ordered the meal set for 8 which consisted of a Kerapu steamed, prawn butter, vegetables with mushrooms, honey lime chicken and beef dishes among others. Overall, the food is satisfactory as most of the dishes plates were wiped clean. Total bill for 8 persons (plus 2 kids and a baby) equals to RM200 which surprises me because it is definitely a good bargain.

LBJB 2011 League Match Five: Eagles 2-3 Harriers

Before this match, Eagles are top of the league with 12 points and 8 points clear from the nearest rival. The confidence was high and only one player could not make it to this match. In the earlier match, Falcons can only drew 0-0 with Hawks so they are still 7 points behind Eagles. Eagles' opponent this time was Harriers, who got beaten 0-2 by Hawks last weekend. But this time their goalkeeper is back. And that's make a difference.

Harriers got the first goal during the first quarter and added another in the second quarter. Hadif managed to close the gap by scoring the first goal for Eagles in the second quarter. However we suffered a setback when Harriers scored another goal in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter I put all my attacking players on the pitch but unfortunately we could only managed to add only one goal through Hadif.

Suddenly Eagles are no longer invicible. Hopefully we will get our winning way when we meet Hawks next Sunday. Current standings: Eagles 12 points, Harriers 7 points, Falcons 5 points, Hawks 4 points.

Klang Valley Mini League 2011 Third Match: BAT 2 - 3 Shah Alam FC

I have experienced many dissapointments since I first managed BAT back in 2003. And today's match was more than a dissapointment because of so many things. First, we lost 2-3 after leading 1-0 through a goal by Kerambit. But that was OK because losing a match is quite normal although we do not want it to be a common occurence. However there are two things that I still could not get my head over with; we lost to a team who only had 10 players on the field throughout the match (in the first 10 minutes of the first half they have nine players), and the fact that so many of our players cannot make it to this match that we had to import 4 new players at the last minute. Only 10 BAT players can make it, and that's include me and an injured Madun. So with these 4 import players we are left with only one fit substitute. As a consequence of this, team communication on the field was being hampered because not everybody knows everyone. I texted more than 30 players on my contact list and only 9 are available. It's very difficult to believe that everyone is injured or unavailable. I can think one probable reason for this; this match was held at Setia Alam and not everyone is willing to travel this far especially for those who are living in Bangi. Our next match will be held in Bangi and I will be very surprised if only 10 players are available.

There is a new restaurant opening up along Jalan Reko and it seems that it always full with customers. We were curious and decided to give it a try. I think Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar is a franchise because there are several others restaurants operating with a similar name in Setiawangsa and Subang Jaya. We ordered 'Ikan Kembung Bakar' and some other seafood to complement it. The food is simply delicious and the sauce is exceptional. Now we know why it is always full with customers.

LBJB 2011 League Match Four: Eagles 2-1 Falcons

Eagles are the team to beat now because at the moment they are top of the league with a maximum nine points from three matches. If Falcons managed to beat Eagles in this match, they will reduce the gap to only two points between them. However, we are quite confident that will not happen because Eagles came with full squad whereas Falcons do not have any substitute with them. So our strategy was to put the strongest formation for the fourth quarter.

Things went quite well when our top striker, Hakiemi scored the first goal during the second quarter. Suddenly Falcons responded back with a goal in the third quarter. And our tactics paid off in the fourth quarter when Adam scored the winning goal. But it was still a nerve wrecking match. With Hawks winning their first match against Harriers, Eagles now are eight points clear from their nearest challenger. But we are not going to take it easy because there are five more league matches to go and in football, anything can happens.

Klang Valley Mini League 2011 Second Match: BAT 2 - 1 Melawati 87 FC

This is our second match in the Klang Valley Mini League and our opponent are Melawati 87 FC. Both teams are looking for their first win as our opponent were also beaten 0-2 by Shah Alam FC last weekend. The first half started brightly for us as we were in the lead with goals scored by Eby and Fazli. Kerambit was in top form as he provided assists for both goals.

However, Epul was still not 100% fit from the injury he suffered last month and had to be withdrawn. Eby was also suffering from blister because of his new boots. Our opponent started to make their presence felt and they scored a quick goal when the second half was just started. This put enormous pressure on us and were kept back at our own half throughout the remaining minutes. The third goal remains elusive and when the final whistle was blown, it was a huge relief for us and we earned our first points.

Next week we are going to play Shah Alam FC and it's going to be a really interesting match. Oh, by the way, Pisang FC recorded their second 12-0 win against Accenture in today's match. So we were not that bad last weekend *ehem*.

A unique way of presenting a case study

This semester I teach Integrated Case Studies course to two different batches of students. The first batch consisted of the final year accounting students (full time) and we are currently on the 12th week of the semester, so I have seen countless presentation of the case studies performed by 11 small groups in the class. As for the second batch, the students are mature and working students who studied part time for this accounting degree.

Today is the first presentation by the first group and I was immediately surprised when they decided to present the case in the form of mini documentary. This kind of presentation has never been done by my undergraduate students and this is just one fine example to illustrate how creative and resourceful the mature students can be. To tell the truth, the movie is quite hilarious especially the first part (where you can actually see the extras hanging around in the office when they are not supposed to be there) and the third part (where from out of nowhere a little girl seems desperately trying to give the handphone to the boss of the company).

I am very tempted to give them full marks for their ingenuity but I have not seen the other groups presentations yet. I am definitely will be looking forward to the next week presentation by another group of mature students.

Today I invited my friend, Shima to give talk to both of my ethics and case study classes. She works as a manager at the Media Prima Bhd., the largest media conglomerate in Malaysia. Specifically she is an internal auditor under Corporate Governance and Risk Management department which is closely related to what I am currently teach to my students. Students were unnaturally enthusiastic during her lecture, asking her lots of questions regarding business ethics. Some of them even asked about the job opportunity at Media Prima since all of them are in the final semester of their study. Shima told me that within after one hour of her talk she has already receive three resumes from my students!

One of the stalls inside the Istana Budaya is selling Lat's best selling books so I took the opportunity to buy the Limited Edition set. Only 1000 copies were printed and each book has it's own personalised and original Lat's signature. The price is RM200 but I don't mind because it's a collectors item. Ilyas and Maisarah also like the books and they managed to finish reading them in less than an hour.

Lat Kampung Boy the Musical

Tonight Jo and I are watching a musical theater titled "Lat Kampung Boy' which is based on the life of Malaysian most famous cartoonist, Datuk Mohamad Nor Khalid or better known as 'Lat', a short form of 'Bulat' which means round. Istana Budaya has been transformed into a huge drawing canvas and it feels like we are inside the drawings itself. Even the seating boxes inside the theater are not spared either, with famous characters created by Lat peering down towards the stage.

The theater itself is not bad and I particularly like all the scenes involving Lat's father and Pak Samad. The stage arrangement is very innovative and some of the songs are quite catchy. The musical itself is quite lengthy, more than two hours I think. But we were treated with a nice surprise when Awie, the actor who plays Lat announced to the audience that the real Lat is among us and then invited him to come on stage. The full house audience gave him a standing ovation and I think Lat must be very proud of this masterpiece on him.

While waiting for the Liga Alumni to resume its 2011 season, BAT squad decided to join the Klang Valley Mini League 2011. There are six teams competing in the league and all the matches will be played every Saturday. Any team can join this league and there is absolutely no restriction on players registration. Basically, anyone can play in this league. And this is what we discovered in our first match, in a quite painful manner, really. Our first opponent are Pisang FC, the name itself sounds very tame but to our horror does not reflect the team at all.

I'm unable to watch this match however, but from the match report given by Firdaus and Madun, apparently we were playing against a team of foreigners, mostly Africans, with two players suspiciously look like Malaysians. Madun told me that one of the players even looks like Adebayor, tall like Adebayor and has a hairstyle like Adebayor. In the first half we let in 4 goals, and 8 more in the second half. Firdaus said we lost 0-11 but then I cannot imagine any of us will diligently write down the score line once it past the double digit number.

This coming Saturday we are going to play our second match in the league. Can't wait!

Yesterday my brother in law, Hafiz, was knocked down by a car when he was trying to cross the road at the zebra crossing in Ampang. The car sped away leaving him lying down on the side of the road. Luckily a good Samaritan managed to send him to the nearby hospital and contacted his father. The doctor examined him and although physically he seems to look okay with some minor scratches and bruises, the real worry is whether he is suffering from any internal bleeding. The x-ray diagnosis cannot find any fracture but he did have some bleeding from his ear and nose as well as vomiting when he tried to eat solid food. The dizziness remains and he is still weak and needing a lot of rest. The culprit has not been identified yet and we could not locate the person who helped him during the incident. Maybe we are not supposed to find out who they are, just as a constant reminder that angels and demons are always amongst us in our daily life.

This match can definitely qualifies as a strange ones. This is the second time we play against Black Shirts FC and revenge is on our mind. And it looks that way when we led through a penalty goal by Fazli. Then strange thing happens. The referee just could not stop giving penalty kicks to the opponent. They missed the first one so we were still leading 1-0 in the first half. I was playing the first half but decided my contribution stops right there after the referee whistles to signal the end of the first half.

In the second half, the referee decided to awards two more penalties to the opponent and they didn't waste the gifts this time. On top of that they manage to score another goal through a freekick. Fazli reduced the gap by getting another goal with a little help of deflection from the Black Shirts' defender but it was the brilliance of Kerambit which makes the difference when he wriggles through a couple of defenders before passing the ball to Fazli.

We continued to press on during the third half and Fazli got his hattrick to make the score even for the second time of the game. We intensify our attacks to capitalise on the tiring opponent but there were many chances went begging. So in the end we managed to get a draw from a game that has 4 penalties in it. Unbelievable.

LBJB Invitational Tournament 2011

During the school holiday, for the first time ever, LBJB decided to hold a one day invitational tournament for all age categories, namely Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12. Six teams participating in each category; two LBJB teams, two Junior Soccer School teams from Petaling Jaya, one team from Taman Bangi and one team from Putrajaya. When all the matches have been played, LBJB won both Under 10 and Under 12 categories. Unfortunately both Under 8 LBJB teams did not qualify for the final match. Ilyas was in the LBJB 'B' and even though they managed to beat Junior Soccer School 'B' through a penalty goal by Hisham, they lost to Putrajaya by the same scoreline. So for the third and fourth placing match, LBJB 'B' came face to face with their 'A' team. Hadif of the 'B' team performed brilliantly to score a very nice goal and in the end ensured that 'B' team will be in the third place. Junior Soccer School 'A' won the Under 8 category with their main striker Haziq, Ilyas' schoolmate when he was in Liverpool Moorside School, became the top scorer with 5 goals. Haziq even scored a hattrick during the final.

A weekend workshop cum holiday at the Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson

I had to attend a faculty workshop at the Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson for three days and two nights so I thought that I might as well bring in the family. As for today, while I'm inside the meeting room, Ilyas and Maisarah had tons of fun playing and swimming by the pool side of the resort. I joined them later late in the afternoon and after dinner I sent them back home at Bandar Baru Bangi because Ilyas has a football tournament on Sunday morning.

We were looking for a suitable place to have Maisarah's birthday party when Tok offered her apartment. Jo took in charge of almost everything and Julie provided the birthday cake and the cupcakes. Maisarah really enjoyed her party and she single handedly cut her birthday cake into slices to be distributed among the kids. The goodie bags were custom made by Jo as she personally sew each individual bag and replaced the chocolate wrappers with the personalised greetings from Maisarah. Makes me wonder what else Jo will do in terms of her personal touch for Maisarah's next birthday party. At least we have one full year to figure it out.

LBJB 2011 League Match Two: Eagles 1-0 Harriers

Both Eagles and Harriers have won their first match and it's going to be a hard fought match. And it was indeed. Even though there were plenty of chances from both sides throughout the four quarters of the match, Eagles can only managed to get one solitary goal through Hadif in the third quarter. Well, a win is a win and now Eagles are at the top of the Juniors league.

Ilyas 8th Birthday Party

My friend, Emeel works in one of the restaurants in Bandar Baru Bangi. The name is Monrods and is quite unique because it has an open space area on the second floor complete with the karaoke set. Thus we decided to have Ilyas' birthday party there. And we discovered something that we have never known before: Ilyas loves to sing using a microphone. Together with his friends, they sung various songs by a number of artists like Lucky Laki and Justin Bieber. We held several games to keep the children entertained. Afterwards we went back home to watch Ilyas opening up his presents.

FEP Bowling Tournament - Piala Prof. Dr. Khalid Rahim

This year our faculty bowling season starts with Piala Prof. Dr. Khalid Rahim tournament. This time each team took the initiative of being unique by wearing same coloured t-shirts. My team consisted of Fakarrudeen, Haniza and myself and we decided to wear all reds but apparently so do three or four other teams! I managed to get 142, 143 and 134 for the team and when the results were announced my team was declared 2nd place overall. Last year my team was in the third place so I guess it's definitely a continuous improvement.

LBJB 2011 League Match One: Eagles 3-2 Falcons

Today is the first league match and Eagles are facing Falcons, who won against Eagles with the score of 4-1 just a week ago in the exhibition match. At first, things did not look promising when Falcons scored an early goal through a freekick. Then it got worse when one of our players, Hadif scored an own goal by mistake. However, I have a full confidence on Eagles to make a comeback because Falcons are playing without many substitute players so they will get tired during the third and fourth quarters whereas Eagles have plenty of backup players.

And this is exactly what is happening when Eagles did an ultimate comeback by scoring three goals through a brace by Hakiemi and a goal by Adam. Hakiemi was actually suffering from a fever and he became the hero of the team by displaying a never give up attitude. The parents of Eagles players also gave full support by wearing the supporter shirts much to the bemusement of the parents from other teams.

Bowling Practise at The Mines

In order to prepare for the incoming bowling tournament, I decided to have a practise with my teammates. I brought along Ilyas, Maisarah and Eela with me. When I arrived at The Mines bowling centre, I met my old schoolmate, Nizam. I only managed to score 103, 147 and 114, which shows how inconsistent I can be. Hopefully this score will be better in the real tournament.

Today is the launching of a new season of Liga Bolasepak Junior Bangi and therefore the organiser has set up several exhibition matches to showcase to the parents. Ilyas' team, Eagles are playing against Falcons. Just a day before Eagles have beaten Hawks with a scoreline of 6-1 (the scorers were Naufal, Luqman, Hadif and Adam (3 goals)) so the confidence was quite high. So it was a huge shock when the exhibition match finished, Eagles had lost to Falcons with a scoreline of 1-4 (with Ilyas as the sole scorer for Eagles). We are not worried though because any wins during this exhibition match won't count when the real season begins. I also took this opportunity to test all the players in various positions.

After two weeks break, we are back having friendly matches to prepare for the new season. This time we are facing Ex-Manchester FC at the Universiti Malaya football field. I still could not get the full squad to come for this match and we started the match with only 4 first eleven players with all our back four features completely new and different players including the keeper. Thus it is not surprising when we let in two successive goals within the few minutes of the first half. Ayie continued with his fine form from the previous match by scoring from a free kick as the opponent's keeper completely misjudged the ball. However, the opponent strike back with a goal that is quite similar in movement to the second one.

I made few substitutions for the second half by bringing in Sidi to replace Din as the defensive midfielder and introduced Shukri as the new left winger. Shukri made an impact immediately when he managed to get a cross across the goal for Jose to tap in. Then Sidi dribbled past few players and made a fierce shot towards the keeper which he managed to block but Jose was at the right place to knock the ball in for the equaliser. After that the match loses its tempo and we were quite lucky the opponent didn't have the best of finishing touch.

I realise that our team are still not a finished article and that's why I have scheduled two more friendly matches in the coming weekends. Hopefully BAT squad will be at their full strength when the proper league season starts in April.

Tooth cases for Maisarah

We bought the box from the newly opened Toys R Us at Alamanda shopping complex for Maisarah about a week ago. Little did we know what she's going to lose her front tooth a few days after that. So she is quite excited to start her little project of making tooth cases for her teeth. I helped her by moulding the cases using the plaster powder provided. After one day the cases are hard and dry enough to be painted by Maisarah. By the end of the day she is the proud owner of two tooth cases which already contained two baby teeth of her, complete with the certificates!

This is our third friendly match and I am still struggling to get a minimum 11 players for it. In the end we managed to get a last minute goalkeeper (he confirmed to play with us with one hour left before the match) and three friends of our players. I don't know whether it's due to match fatigue (this is our 5th consecutive weekends of matches) or playing with unfamiliar faces (the first eleven consisted of only 5 regulars) but we were beaten quite comprehensively in the first half with a score line of 1-5. With some dramas on and off the field, this match should be forgotten and dismissed quickly as a mere footnote or statistic of the long history of BAT squad (we are nearing our 10th year anniversary, mind you) but some individual achievement and several interesting statistic findings merit to be mentioned here:

1) Ayie scored a hattrick by scoring from a middle of the field after a kick-off, through a free kick and a penalty, which is merely to cement his reputation as a dead ball specialist.

2) Even though we were beaten 1-5 in the first half, we actually won the second half by the score of 2-1.

3) The last time we lost was on the 14th November 2010, more than two months ago. Since the last league loss to ASPUTRA at that time, we won 6 times and drew once.

4) This is our 29th match since the start of 2010 pre-season training back in February 2010 and we never fail to score at least a goal in every match. Our total clean sheets? 5 times.

5) In the last 3 friendly matches, we scored 3 goals in every match.

6) League (2 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses), Cup (3 wins, 1 loss), Friendly (10 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses)

7) Biggest win: 7-0 (Friendly, 3rd October)

8) Biggest loss: 3-6, 2-5, 2-5, 1-4 in various league and friendly matches. But the margin is never more than 3 goals.

9) Total goals scored: 79 (average 2.7 goals per match).

10) Total goals conceded: 53 (average 1.8 goals per match)

We continue our fine form during the friendly matches by beating Impian Ehsan FC with a comfortable scoreline of 3-1, even when our opponent have more substitute players than us. Our youngest debutant, Anuar who is ex-MRSM Taiping (SPM 2009) impressed the others when he managed to take the ball from his position of left back and continued onwards until he reached the edge of the opponent's penalty box and made the cross, which luckily hit one of their defender's leg and went straight in. Kerambit scored the second goal through a pass from Fazli and he add another goal for himself after Jose put him clear in front of the goal. Madun uncharacteristically let off his guard during the final minutes and the opponent's striker managed to get a consolation goal by blasting right through Shaz, our keeper.

When we finished our game, we were presented a nice surprise in form of a hamper from our opponent as a winning token. I wish we could play them every week.
